The research line focuses on carbon cycling in Mediterranean reservoirs, the impacts of climate change on their water quality, and the effects of antibiotic pollution on reservoir bacterial assemblages.
Interdisciplinary and cross-scale approaches are distinctive traits of our research.
Specific objectives are:
· Biogeochemical processes study in lakes and reservoirs
· Changes in the biological structure study and functioning of lakes and reservoirs with respect to climate and global changes
· Role of reservoirs in managing water scarcity and in the quality of the drinking water
· Reservoirs's function study in the context of a river basin

Rafael Marcé
Research Scientist
rmarce@icra.cat
His research focuses on the study of the impact of climate change on freshwater ecosystems and carbon balance, and the modelling of ecological processes at the watershed scale. He has published several papers in SCI journals as well as book chapters. He has been involved in national and international projects such as AQUAREATOR (EVK1-CT-2000-30007) and in other projects with private companies. He is currently participating in the Consolider-Ingenio 2010 project SCARCE (CSD2009-00065).
