CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB

  • Job location:  ICRA – Catalan Institute for Water Research, Girona (Spain)
  • Number of positions available: 1
  • Expected start: 01/03/2023
  • Temporal Position. The position is for 21 months (until 30/11/2024)
  • Gross Annual Salary package: 26.000 €.

 

OFFER DESCRIPTION

Postdoctoral researcher within the frame of TED project Citypoll - City runoff pollution impacts on river biodiversity under extreme climatic events (CityPoll). Chemical evaluation and ecological and ecotoxicological biofilm responses. With specific responsibility within WP Chemsitry.

 

KEY DUTIES

Advanced analysis of contaminants in urban runoffs and receiving aquatic environment. Conducting of suspect screening analysis, using HRMS (both GC and LC), of a wide range of organic contaminants such as alkyphenols, PFAS, pesticides, PAHs, benzotriazoles, etc, as well as target analysis using LC-MS/MS and or GC-MS of specific compound classes. Analysis of microplastics using GC-pyrolysis. Evaluation of the results and statistical analysis. Drafting project reports.

 

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

 

Must have – Required

Research Field or Field of knowledge:

Analytical chemistry

Qualifications and Education Level:

Doctoral degree in Chemistry or Environmental sciences

Skills:

Practical experience in chemical analysis of environmental samples. Practical experience in sample preparation of environmental samples. Practical experience in HRMS and suspect screening analysis.

Required Languages:

Spanish and English compulsory, Catalan recommended.

Required Experience:

Chemical analysis of environmental samples; sample preparation techniques, LC-MS.

 

Desirable

Previous experience in HRMS and suspect screening, as well as data processing of HRMS data.

Selection process:

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
