Following the success of previous 15
Interna􀆟onal workshops on LC-MS/MS in
environmental analysis and food safety
(Barcelona 2005, Barcelona 2006, Guelph,
Ontario 2007, Barcelona 2008,
Toronto2009, Barcelona 2010, Buffalo 2011,
Barcelona 2012, Toronto 2013, Barcelona
2014, Burlington, 2015, Barcelona 2014,
Buffalo 2017, Barcelona 2018, Miami Beach
2019) we are presen􀆟ng here the 16th
Interna􀆟onal workshop with slightly
modified orienta􀆟on. This 16th workshop
will focus on emerging high-resolu􀆟on mass
spectrometry (HRMS), as well as on
LC-MS/MS applica􀆟ons in environmental
analysis and food safety.
The main objec􀆟ve of the workshop is to
evaluate prac􀆟cal aspects of the usefulness
of highresolu􀆟on mass spectrometry and
tandem mass spectrometric techniques for
screening and quan􀆟ta􀆟on of organic
contaminants in the environmental and
food samples.
The following prac􀆟cal aspects and state of
the art applica􀆟ons will be discussed:
Advances in HRMS instrumenta􀆟on and
their applicability in environmental and
food analysis.
Advantages, comparison and complementari
􀆟es of advanced MS instruments
(tandem and hybrid) in the quan􀆟ta􀆟ve
and qualita􀆟ve determina􀆟on of complex
environmental and food samples.
Advanced sample prepara􀆟on technologies
for food and environmental analysis
including on-line pre-column technology
coupled to LC/tandem MS.
Large number of applica􀆟ons in environmental
analysis, basically water and soil/
sediment, biota and food, like fruits and
vegetables, juices and meat.
Broad range of contaminants and their
degradates.
This workshop is intended to be an informal
venue that encourages an exchange of the
latest informa􀆟on and ideas among
scien􀆟sts from academia, governmental
agencies and industry.
In a similar way as last years the workshop is
jointly organized by CSIC - Consejo Superior
de Inves􀆟gaciones Cien􀆟ficas (Barcelona,
Spain), ICRA – Catalan Ins􀆟tute for Water
Studies, and the Ins􀆟tut d'Estudis Catalans
(Barcelona, Spain) in collabora􀆟on with the
Spanish Society for Mass Spectrometry
(SEEM).
