AWARD FOR SCIENTIFIC COLLABORATORS OF ICRA
During the XVI Congress of the Iberian Association of Limnology (held at the University du Minho, Guimaraes, Portugal, from 2 to 6 July 2012), Mireia Fillol, Predoctoral Student, scientific collaborator of ICRA, currently in the area of Water Quality and Microbial diversity, receives the first prize in the oral presentation by the exhibition of work entitled "Segregation of archaeal Communities In stratified lakes and design of specific molecular tools for uncultured lineages" with the following co-authors: Mireia Fillol, Frederic Gich and Carles Borrego.
At the same congress, Olga Auguet, Internship Student (MSc student in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine at the University of Girona) visitor of the area of Water Quality and Microbial Diversity of ICRA, receives the first prize in the poster category for his work entitled "Comparison of DNA and RNA finger latent prints to discriminate active and archaeal populations" with the following co-authors: Olga Auguet, Mireia Fillol, Mercè Figueras and Carles Borrego. The research studies presented at the Congress is a summary of the final PhD dissertation that Olga Auguet will present in September 2012.
The two studies were performed in collaboration with the research group in Molecular Microbial Ecology (GEMM) Institute of Aquatic Ecology, University of Girona and, in the case of the second work, also with the Laboratory of Cork, Department of Biology the same university.
